Karen is an award-winning producer from the UK who moved in to producing following a highly successful career in Global Events Management in the City of London. Her former training as an actor combined with her exceptional organisational skills and financial acumen make her an outstanding Creative Producer.
Her debut feature film, Just Charlie, has achieved critical acclaim around the world and won many awards including the prestigious Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and most recently the Grand Prix in the Ecran Juniors in Cannes 2019. It has been sold to many territories internationally including Amazon in the USA and most recently to SKY cinema in the UK.
Hidden Door Productions has produced a number of privately financed short films including “Lady M” starring Samantha Bond and Eleanor Bron, “Bertie” starring Alison Steadman and Arthur Darvill, "Down" starring Amanda Donohoe and Paul Barber, The Outing starring Con O'Neill, Julie Hesmondhalgh and Elizabeth Rider and The Man at The Bottom of the Garden starring Clare Calbraith, Denise Black and Paul Bradley. These films have done extremely well at festivals, been BAFTA long listed and have secured distribution deals.
Karen is president of the Timothy Welling Bursary, an award and mentoring scheme set up with E15 Drama School designed to support and nurture a student in their final year of training.
Karen is producing several projects and is currently in post production with her second feature film “Love Without Walls", Written and Directed by Jane Gull (My Feral Heart) Starring Shana Swash, Niall McNamee, Adam Deacon, Paul Barber and Sheila Reid.
Karen lives in Hertfordshire with her crazy but loveable black Labrador, Maisy and a much loved 2CV called Patrick. #2CVPatrick
